About the event
On Friday, September 8, St. Agatha-St. James Church--home of the first Newman Center in the United States--will host a choral Evensong according to the Ordinariate's form of the Divine Office for the Nativity of Mary. The music program for this event will additionally serve as Durandus's commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the death of William Byrd for the Philadelphia area, featuring Byrd's "Great Service" setting of Magnificat and Nunc dimittis. The event will include a short talk by Dr. William Gatens on the life of Byrd.
